Activities and Salient Achievements

This section has established an advanced laboratory for the analysis of food products, oil, soaps and other products.

Quality control manuals for food products: two quality control manuals have been prepared, one for food products (including organic food) and other for oil & soaps. The manual covers the analytical methods as per the specifications of concerned national agencies such as BIS, AGMARK PFA etc. Hon’ble Minister of ARI, Govt. of India, Shri Karia Munda released these manuals in September 2002.

This section has developed a hand operated tamarind-packing machine. The cottage level entrepreneurs can make the tamarind bricks of 250, 500, 750 and 1000 gm by using this machine and can attain value addition.

This section has also been developed tamarind based nutritive food products such as Tamarind Ketchup, Tamarind Paste and Tamarind digestive tablets.

A Soap and Detergent kit has been developed for the determination of quality of the products. This is helpful for improving the quality of soaps and detergents manufactured in cottage industry.

Chromium removal and recovery unit has been designed for small and cottage level tanneries. This unit is designed to remove 95% of chromium from waste liquor. It is being further developed for field utilityness.
